CAGE
CAGE is a simple checklist for giving instructions to AI. It stands for Context, Align, Goals, and Examples, and it acts like a blueprint to make sure the AI understands exactly what you need before it starts working.
CAGE is a structured prompting framework used to constrain AI output within domain-valid ranges. By requiring the user to provide situational context, verify alignment through a playback phase, define granular goals, and supply a library of examples, it ensures the AI remains focused and reliable throughout the execution process.
Context (all situational, institutional, and domain context), Align (the AI plays back its understanding and plan before running), Goals (granular, bidirectional), Examples (a growing data layer) — the structured front half of directing AI well; the templating discipline that constrains AI output to domain-valid ranges. Pairs with ARCH. (C4AIL.)
