Intellectual Labour
Intellectual labour is the mental effort we put into tasks like writing, coding, or solving problems. Think of it as the 'brain work' that AI is now starting to do for us, allowing people to focus on directing the work rather than doing the heavy lifting themselves.
Intellectual labour refers to the weightless cognitive production—such as drafting, coding, and analysis—that constitutes the core of modern knowledge work. As AI commoditises the execution of these tasks, the professional's role shifts from manual production to high-level architecture, orchestration, and verification.
