Living Material

Living Material is a way of treating AI-generated information like a perishable item in a pantry; instead of assuming it stays good forever, we label it with an expiration date so we know when to check if it is still accurate or needs to be replaced.

Living Material is a methodology for managing AI outputs as version-controlled assets rather than static documents. It requires assigning review dates to all AI-assisted content to ensure that decisions are based on current model iterations and verified data rather than stale, superseded information.

The discipline of treating AI-assisted output as provisional material with versions and expiry, so stale claims, superseded model versions, and outdated templates do not silently enter decisions. (C4AIL.)
