Minimum Viable Literacy

Minimum Viable Literacy is the 'sweet spot' of AI knowledge for a leader. It is like knowing enough about car mechanics to talk to a mechanic and ensure you aren't being overcharged or sold unnecessary repairs, without needing to be the one who actually fixes the engine.

A functional baseline of AI competence that enables a leader to effectively commission, interrogate, and challenge technical teams. It focuses on conceptual architecture and probabilistic thinking, allowing the leader to act as an 'intelligent customer' who can validate expert advice without needing to perform the technical execution themselves.

The 'Challenging Commissioner' standard: leaders need enough conceptual architecture, data fluency, and probabilistic thinking to commission and interrogate expert (AI) advice, not to produce it. The citable cognate is the UK 'intelligent customer' doctrine. Builds the Translator capability without the atrophy of a dedicated bridge-role. (C4AIL.)
